STEEL & SADDLE

STEEL & SADDLE

Outlaw Western. Nashville, TN.

How We Source What We Sell

When you walk into Steel & Saddle here at Marathon Village in Nashville, you're not looking at some mass-produced catalog that could've come from anywhere. Every piece on our shelves tells a story about where it came from and why we chose it. That matters to us, and it should matter to you.

We didn't build this brand on convenience. We built it on the principle that western wear should be authentic, durable, and made by people who understand the life it's meant for. That means we've spent years developing relationships with suppliers who share that same philosophy. We're talking about craftspeople who've been making quality boots, saddles, and workwear for generations, not factories that churn out whatever's cheapest.

Every piece on our shelves tells a story about where it came from and why we chose it.

Starting Close to Home

Our first stop is always here in Tennessee and across the South. We work with local tanneries and leather workers who understand that good leather is worth the wait. When we source our belts, wallets, and jackets, we're looking for artisans who still use traditional methods alongside modern techniques. There's a difference between leather that's treated to last and leather that's just treated to look nice for a season.

Nashville has a long tradition of craftsmanship that goes beyond music. The same attention to detail that goes into building a quality guitar goes into the work of the people we partner with. We've built relationships with makers in the greater Tennessee region who take pride in what they produce. That's not something you find everywhere, and it's not something we take for granted.

The Ranch and Rodeo Connection

For our working cowboy gear—the stuff that needs to actually perform—we source directly from manufacturers who make products for ranches and rodeos. This isn't about fashion. This is about equipment that needs to withstand real conditions. We talk to rodeo riders, ranch hands, and working cowboys about what works and what doesn't. Those conversations guide our sourcing decisions.

We don't carry boots because they look good in a photograph. We carry them because they work.

We've got relationships with boot makers in Texas and Oklahoma who've been crafting western boots since before some of us were born. Their reputation is built on delivering boots that won't fail you when you're out in rough country. We don't carry boots because they look good in a photograph. We carry them because they work.

Knowing Your Suppliers

This is where we differ from most retailers. We don't just place orders and wait for shipments. We visit our suppliers. We see where and how things are made. We talk to the people doing the work. That's the only way to know if something's built right or if corners are being cut. You can't tell from a spreadsheet whether a manufacturer respects their craft or is just hitting numbers.

Why This Matters: We ask hard questions about materials, processes, and fair labor practices. We want to know that the people making our products are treated well and compensated fairly. That commitment is built into everything we do.
